In the night of 15 July, Hakkari was one of the most important centers where the military mobilization was intensive and putschists were defeated. Former Hakkari Mountain and Commando Brigade Commander Brigadier General Ahmet Otal and Hakkari Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Senior Colonel Demiray Demirci called Yakup Canpolat, governor of Hakkari, and said "Prepare, we are coming to take you". Governor of Hakkari replied as "We are the state, we will resist until to the end, come and surrender.
" Meanwhile, putschists in Hakkari Mountain and Commando Brigade Command began to work to send a large military unit to the city center. Among the patriotic soldiers in the brigade, Command Sergeant Major Mehmet Abacı and his 14 friends hid ignition keys of armored vehicles and arms and ammunition.
